Altamont Environmental and Anchor QEA Come Together to Offer More

Altamont Environmental, Inc., of Asheville, North Carolina, and Anchor QEA, LLC, of Seattle, Washington, announced the creation of a new entity, Anchor QEA of North Carolina, PLLC. The new entity has assumed the operations of Altamont Environmental, Inc., and will collaborate with Anchor QEA, LLC, to strengthen its response to environmental and engineering challenges and provide clients with high-quality scientific and engineering services.

Altamont was founded in 1996 and has served clients regionally (Southeastern United States) and nationally, providing environmental consulting, civil engineering, and site and land planning services. Altamont has earned a reputation for delivering high-quality projects, from Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) through complex site remediation, site planning, and civil site redevelopment. Altamont has consistently delivered exceptional client service on projects, from brownfields redevelopment and grant funding procurement, to stream restoration and mitigation banking to landfill planning and compliance monitoring, and from site pre‑purchase property assessment to master planning.

Anchor QEA is a nationally recognized environmental and engineering consulting firm that specializes in aquatic, shoreline, and water resource projects. For Anchor QEA, this collaboration expands its engineering, landscape architecture, and geology teams in the Southeast, and it provides clients throughout the country with access to the technical capabilities and resources at Altamont. “Altamont and Anchor QEA are a perfect fit for each other because we are so compatible in our approach to client service and providing high-quality work; and Altamont fills an important geographic position for us,” says Tom Schadt, a founding partner at Anchor QEA. “Our ability to help our clients address the emerging environmental issues in the energy market and further our remediation, restoration, and site redevelopment services in North Carolina and other areas of the country is really exciting for both firms.”

Stu Ryman and Chris Gilbert—originally the owners of Altamont and now partners within Anchor QEA—will continue to be based in Asheville, North Carolina. Stu adds, “As Anchor QEA of North Carolina, PLLC, we will continue to focus on applying the best available science to develop the most appropriate solutions for our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to draw on the extensive expertise at Anchor QEA to provide our clients with a full range of services for water resources, surface water and groundwater quality, dredging, contaminated sediment management, coastal development, and habitat restoration projects.”
