Altamont’s Anna Saylor Named Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT)

Anna Saylor was recently certified by the Society of Wetland Scientists Certification Program, Inc. (SWS) as a Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT).  The SWS developed this certification to identify individuals qualified to assess and manage the nation's wetland resources.  The program recognizes the wetland science training and experience of professional ecologists, hydrologists, soil scientists, educators, agency professionals, consultants, and others who practice wetland science.  Achieving WPIT is a preliminary step on the way to becoming a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS).

As part of completing a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC Chapel Hill), Ms. Saylor studied wetland ecology, environmental law and policy, and coastal processes at the UNC Chapel Hill’s Albemarle Ecological Field Site in Manteo, North Carolina in 2004.  Ms. Saylor also received a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation training certification in 2008.  With two more years of experience and continuing education, Ms. Saylor will be eligible to apply for a PWS certification.  For more information regarding this certification and program, please visit www.sws.org.
