Altamont Staff Complete Landfill Gas Systems Operations and Maintenance Training
Three members of the Altamont staff recently completed a two-day course presented by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). Chris Gilbert, PE, Paul Dow, PE, and Evan Yurkovich attended SWANA’s “Landfill Gas Systems Operations and Maintenance” training, which is intended to update landfill gas professionals on current best practices and procedures for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems.
The training was held at two working landfill gas-to-energy facilities, the Jackson County Green Energy Park and the EnergyXchange, which allowed class members to do hands-on learning and to tour both facilities.
Altamont has lent our expertise to a variety of landfill gas-to-energy projects, including to both of the facilities visited in the class, as well as several others. Currently, Altamont is monitoring landfill gas migration at landfills in Polk, Jackson, and Haywood Counties.
