Altamont Participates in Reed Creek Clean-Up
In 2007, Altamont adopted a portion of the Reed Creek, which is a tributary of the French Broad River, running parallel to Broadway Avenue, between downtown Asheville and UNCA. Twice each year, Altamont staff picks up trash from the creek and its banks. Altamont’s efforts are part of the Adopt-a-Stream program of Riverlink, a local non-profit that spearheads economic and environmental revitalization of the French Broad River and its tributaries. This fall’s clean-up, on October 29, was a huge success! Altamont staff collected 33 bags of trash in two hours! The Altamont team has been proud to contribute to a significant improvement in the creek area since the initial adoption in 2007.
