Hydrogeologic Assessment, Compliance Monitoring, and Wastewater Engineering
Henderson County, North Carolina
Clement Pappas, a major Henderson County industry, produces and distributes a variety of juices, drinks and other fruit products across the United States. The production of fruit juice and fruit products results in the generation of large quantities of wastewater. Wastewater generation rates vary with the fruit growing season from 55,000 gallons per day (gpd) in the spring to over 80,000 gpd in the fall. Clement-Pappas uses a wastewater treatment lagoon and 100-acre spray irrigation disposal system to manage the wastewater produced at the facility.
Since 2000, Altamont has been assisting Clement Pappas with it
permitting, monitoring and operation of its wastewater treatment and disposal
system. Initially, Altamont completed a
hydrogeologic study a
s part of the spray irrigation permit application. Once the permit was obtained we completed all
of the required semi-annual groundwater monitoring and reporting tasks. Altamont has also assisted Clement Pappas in
routine operation and maintenance of the wells and monitoring network. In 2005 Altamont completed all of the
required engineering and hydrogeologic studies required for a permit
modification application associated with a 50-percent increase in spray
irrigation volume.
