Reclaimed Water Irrigation System Design
The Lake Toxaway Country Club irrigates its golf course greens and fairways using treated wastewater under a permit issued by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The Lake Toxaway Country Club needed to expand its permitted area for application of recycled wastewater from four to twenty acres to meet regulatory requirements. Altamont assisted the Country Club in modifying its existing permit. The permit modification included additional wastewater system infrastructure such as adding an automated wastewater pumping system that supplements the non-potable surface water irrigation system and adding a new force main to connect existing irrigation nozzles to the wastewater treatment and discharge system. It also included conducting soil analyses within the golf course to determine a suitable application rate, and modifying the treatment system and permit to address operational constraints.
