Altamont was contracted to address compliance
inspection violations issued by the North Carolina Department of Natural
Resources (DENR), Public Water Supply Section at a drinking water well operated
by Yancey County, North Carolina. The non-compliance
issues consiste
d of impaired well casing and incorrect well head fittings. Prior to the casing repair, a downhole video
was performed to obtain well construction details. Altamont provided oversight of a 50-foot,
4-inch-diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) liner installation that fit inside the
old casing. The new liner was then
grouted and new well head fittings consisting of state-specified vent fittings
and sample tap position were installed.
