At Altamont, almost all of our projects involve managing water in one or more of its various forms. We have successfully completed a wide range of land and water resources projects from stormwater management and erosion control to potable water evaluation and wastewater recycling. Our expertise includes stormwater BMP design, low impact development (LID), floodplain management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, erosion and sediment control design, steep slope evaluation, as well as more traditional civil engineering specialties such as water and wastewater infastructure.
Altamont views land and water management from an integrated watershed perspective which emphasizes the complexities of the hydrolic cycle from precipitation to infiltration, storage, groundwater recharge, and stormwater runoff. We approach every project by understanding the natural hydrologic system and evaluating potential upstream and downstream impacts. Altamont recognizes that when stormwater is properly managed, it can be a valuable resource for sustaining local ecosystems and recharging groundwater, and therefore we incorporate LID solutions wherever possible.
Altamont's staff has completed multiple groundwater resource development projects including the assessment and development of groundwater sources for commercial or municipal-scale potable supply. Often these projects include local and regional watershed analyses to assess the quality and quantity of groundwater and surface water resources.
