Wastewater Treatment and Spray Irrigation
Juice Processing and Production Plant—Western North Carolina: This juice processing plant produces approximately 100,000 gallons of high-BOD wastewater per day. The wastewater is aerated and spray-irrigated. Altamont assisted this client with the design and permitting of the wastewater treatment and spray-irrigation system, design of a force main and pump station for emergency use, a gravity sewer system design, and a hydrogeological assessment of the spray field including semiannual groundwater quality monitoring and reporting.
Resort Hotel and Golf Course—Western North Carolina: Altamont assisted the client with a permit renewal for spray irrigation and beneficial reuse of wastewater from a resort hotel and restaurant. Altamont developed a design for the treatment and spray-irrigation system, designed the force main and pump station, performed a hydrogeologic evaluation of the spray fields (golf course fairways), and prepared the permit application. The system is currently permitted and operating.
Poultry Processing Plant—Eastern North Carolina: Altamont performed a hydrogeological assessment for a spray irrigation system associated with a large- scale poultry processing plant which spray-irrigates its wastewater. The assessment was completed to support a permit application.
Wastewater Discharge (NPDES) Permits
Electronics Manufacturing Corporation—Western North Carolina: Altamont assisted an industrial client with the application for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for discharge of treated groundwater and industrial wastewater.
Textile Manufacturing Corporation—Western North Carolina: Altamont assisted an industrial client with the application for an NPDES permit for discharge of industrial wastewater.
Stormwater Management and Rainwater Harvesting
Stormwater Best Management Practices—Asheville, North Carolina: Altamont designed, installed, and maintains a series of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) on a steeply sloping school property in Asheville, North Carolina. BMPs include rain gardens, a stormwater wetland, bioswales, and cisterns for rainwater reuse. The school integrates the BMPs into their curriculum.
